Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to the most common questions about Tejomay Charitable Trust.
Tejomay Charitable Trust (TCT) is a Non-Profit-Charitable trust established in May 2015, based in Bangalore, India.
"Tejomay" is a Sanskrit word meaning "full of light" or "brilliant / lustrous" — reflecting our belief that education brings people from darkness into light, helping them shine in their own lives and communities.
Tejomay was established with a mission to equip children with life skills and values needed to deal with everyday challenges, and to empower women, adults, and children from low-income communities by providing them with the knowledge, skills, and resources to lead a dignified life.
We believe education is the foundation for solving most other challenges. When a woman is educated, she is better able to care for her health, manage finances, support her children's development, and participate actively in society. Education creates a ripple effect that addresses poverty, inequality, and health in a sustainable way.
No, Tejomay Charitable Trust does not receive any financial support from the Government. We are entirely funded by generous individuals, corporate donors, and philanthropic organizations who share our vision.
Tejomay is funded through individual donations, corporate social responsibility (CSR) contributions, and fundraising events. Every contribution — no matter the size — directly impacts the lives of the women and children we serve.
We design our own customized curriculum that is practical, interactive, and relevant to the needs of our students. Our courses for women include adult literacy, English language, computer training, and life skills workshops. For children, we offer life skills, soft skills, child safety, financial literacy, and character-building programmes — all tailored to suit the age and learning context of our participants.
